frequently asked questions at folding-canoe.comIs there a warranty? Do you have more questions? Please, ask! Is there a warranty?
- The manufacturer provides a three year warranty on parts and labor.
Since we do our own quality control at the factory in St. Petersburg we offer
the following: If the defect happens within one year of the purchase, we,
folding-canoe.com, will replace the defect part as a fast service to you on
top of the manufacturer's warranty! How safe is this boat?
- There are two air sponsons alongside the entire length of the canoe
that make it unsinkable. As long as you are not fully immersed in water the
light displacement is a safety factor as well since you can take on more water
than a similar sized rigid canoe. In comparison to small cockpit kayaks it
is also much easier to get back into the boat if you happen to turn it over.
I only managed to do that on purpose and it was pretty hard to do! Can I take this boat
on an airplane? - Yes! All major airlines will check the canoe in its
backpack like regular luggage. It is within most size and weight restrictions.
Take the folding-canoe around the world! How does it handle
versus a rigid hull? - Better! The flexibility of the hull is always an
advantage except when sailing. The hull is rigid enough to keep its hydrodynamic
characteristics in most conditions. If the forces of the waves become too
strong the hull will flex, first the skin and then the frame and then return
to its original shape almost like a shock absorber - imagine driving a car
without them! The advantages of the skin boat are similar: You do not have
to fight all those forces and have a smoother ride, get further with the same
amount of effort etc.! Check out the links for further
reading! Is it easy to repair?
- Yes, very! Field repairs can be easily made with the included repair kit
and/or off the shelf products. Unless you seriously abuse the boat a piece
of self-adhesive tape will do most repairs in a heartbeat until you have more
time and drier conditions to do a longer lasting job! How does the folding-canoe
stack up against the competition?- If you look at comparable boats from
Ally, Pakboats and others you will realize that you will have to pay a minimum
of $1,600 just for the boat. Once you have added the sprayskirt, the backpack,
the keel strips and the shipping you will end up spending over $2,000. In
other words you will save at least $600 and get a comparable, if not better,
boat! |
